The Australian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City on behalf of the Australian Government handed over 403,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Vietnam on August 27.

Australia will deliver more than 400,000 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses to Vietnam this week to help the Southeast Asian nation fight against the pandemic.

Australia will share 1.5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses with Vietnam by the end of 2021, announced Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne and Minister for International Development and the Pacific Zed Seselja on July 14.

The Australian Embassy in Hanoi and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have announced a 13.5 million AUD package to support the introduction and delivery of COVID-19 vaccines doses in Vietnam.

VIETRAD, an online platform developed over the last year that uses machine learning technology to test, monitor and improve radiologic diagnosis of breast cancer, was launched on November 12. The VIETRAD project was developed thanks to the funding of more than 340,000 AUD by the Australian Government through its Aus4Innovation programme.

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will fund a 4.3 million AUD (2.8 million USD) project training a group of “animal disease detectives” in 11 countries and territories in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, including Vietnam.

Vietnamese and Australian scientists gathered together at a workshop in Hanoi on July 19 to discuss the probability to promote links between the two countries in medical technology transfer.

The Australian government will provide 1 million AUD (720,000 USD) in annual aid for Vietnamese and Australian scientists to carry out joint medical and health care research projects.
