Regional students gather in Da Nang for programming contest

The qualifying round of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC) began in the central city of Da Nang on November 27.

Nearly 350 Vietnamese students and 15 foreignteams from Japan, China, the Republic of Kore , Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Indonesia entered the competition.

The 17 most outstanding contestants will representAsia to compete at the final round of ACM/ICPC 2014 in Ekaterinburg ,Russia.

The same day, the 22nd VietnamInformatics Olympic Contest for Students ( OLP ’13) also commenced inthe city, attracting 337 students from more than 70 universities andcolleges nationwide.

The two competitions will wrap up on November 29.

As part of the competition, the Ministry of Education and Training,Vietnam Huawei Technology Company and Duy Tan Universitylaunched a mobile application renovation contest.

Its final round is scheduled for next April.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
