A regional symposium “Russian language in Southeast Asia” opened in Hanoi on December 15, attracting more than 200 delegates from Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Russia.

Hanoi (VNA) – A regionalsymposium “Russian language in Southeast Asia” opened in Hanoi on December 15,attracting more than 200 delegates from Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar,Cambodia and Russia.

Speaking at the event, RussianAmbassador Constantin Vkunov expressed his belief that Russia’s external policiesare encouraging global interest in Russia and Russian language studies.

Vice Chairwoman of the NationalAssembly’s Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children HoangThi Hoa said the Vietnamese legislature supports projects that populariseRussian language and improve Russian teachers’ capacity.

The two-day event aims to establishties among Russian teachers and provide a platform for multi-facetedhumanitarian cooperation.

Participants discussed contentsregarding linguistics, education and training such as teachers’ training,tertiary and post-tertiary education, scientific research and the transfer ofRussian universities’ curricula to Southeast Asian countries./.
