Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee andthe National Traffic Safety Committee held a requiem for victims of trafficaccidents in Vietnam at Long Hung pagoda in Hanoi on December 29.
The event aims to sound an alarm in thewhole society on traffic accidents in the country, thus raising awareness ofthe community in abiding by the traffic law.
Delegates, Buddhist dignitaries andfollowers, and people offered incense in commemoration of the victims, and prayedfor their families, as well as for good health and safety for all people.
In Vietnam, traffic accidentstake the lives of about 20 people every day./.
A total of 5,496 people were killed and 6,973 others injured in 9,826 traffic accidents nationwide in the first 10 months of this year, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.
The National Traffic Safety Committee and the People’s Committee of Hoa Binh province jointly organised a ceremony on November 19 to commemorate people who lost their lives in traffic accidents.
