RoK supports Huong River planning scheme

The Republic of Korea has pledged a non-refundable official development assistance (ODA) aid package for the central province of Thua Thien-Hue to detail a planning scheme on the poetic Huong River, during a signing ceremony in Hue imperial city on February 28.

The 6 million USD project will be carried out within two and a halfyears by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) after thesuccess of a similar project for Hue city.

Theproject aims to promote eco-friendly developments along the river andmaximise local historical and cultural values in economic growth.

The Korean agency has helped Thu Thien- Hue province in economics,healthcare, cultural preservation and environmental protection.

Cutting through the city centre, Huong (Perfume) River is around 80kmin length and owes its name to its path through aromatic forests. Theriver, with its shimmering blue colour, is like a pearl in the sun.Dotted with rowing boats, the citadel, gardens, pagodas, towers andtemples, the poetic landscape has long mesmerised travellers.-VNA

Vietnam pioneers use of AI and remote sensing to m𝓀onitor seawater quality

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
