Hanoi (VNS/VNA) — The Vietcomba✨nk Mekong DeltaMarathon Hau Giang 2023 is expected to pass new milestones in both scaleand quality in its fourth edition this week⛎end.
The tournament will see a record of more than 9,000 runners takingpart in four categories of 5km, 10km, half marathon and full marathon. Last year, 7,000 athletes from 15 countries and territories tookpart in the event. This year, the marathoners will race on the international standardroutes that are recognised by the Association of International Marathonsand Distance Races. Runners can submit their results from this competition to registerfor elite marathons around the world. The routes have been specially designed as a single loopallowing athletes to experience the nature and culture ofthe region's expansive fields, rustic villages, and winding canalswhich are typical of the Hau Giang countryside. A total prize pot of 200 million VND (8,500 USD) will beawarded to top-ranking runners. An award of 50 million VND will be given to anyrunner that sets a new record in the full marathon class. Theorganisers have promised to give out a ticket to compete in one of sixevents of the World Marathon Majors for the best runner. They'll alsoprovide support for travel, accommodation and food. To encourage the running movement in the province, the organisersare also holding private competitions for Hau Giang'slocal officials. The winners of each category will be awarded prizes equalto half the official prize values. Organisers also hold two distances of 800m and 2.3km for children,with 2,000 competitors taking part in the races. During the two-day event, runners can try the local cuisineand specialities and take part in tours to discover the area. Local businesses and tour operators can learn more aboutthe potential of the province. All are to promote andstimulate tourism, especially green sports tourism, turning Hau Giang intoa staple for health-related tourism in the region./.
Some 7,000 runners, including 300 international marathoners, will participate in the 5th Dalat Ultra Trail (DUT) 2023 which will take place in Da Lat city and Lac Duong district, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, from March 3-5.
The fourth VNExpress Marathon Sparkling Quy Nhon took place in the coastal city of central Binh Dinh province on June 11, attracting the competition of over 10,000 domestic and foreign runners.
Nguyen Trong Nha Uyen has made history for Vietnam’s dancesport by clinching a bronze medal in the solo Latin category at the WDSF World Championship 2025 in Germany.
