Medvedev, who is also President of the Russia-Vietnam FriendshipParliamentarians Group, was received by National Assembly Vice ChairmanUong Chu Luu in Hanoi on Dec. 14.

The Vietnamese NA official toldhis guest he was pleased to see the traditional friendship,multifaceted cooperation and strategic partnership between Vietnam andRussia being strengthened and deepened for the sake of their people.

Hedescribed the organisation of a great number of events in political,diplomatic and cultural fronts to mark the 60 th anniversary of the twocountries’ diplomatic ties as vivid manifestation of their friendshipand cooperation.

Happy with strong outcomes in bilateraleconomic, scientific and technological ties, Luu, however, pointed outthat the two countries’ two-way trade value, though increasing steadilyyear after year, remains below its potential and that Vietnam isstriving to raise the value to 20 billion USD by 2020.

TheRussian guest showed his admiration of Vietnam’s dynamic development andexpressed his joy for being warmly welcomed in the country.

Notingthe importance of energy in economic development, the Russian officialsaid Russia is ready to cooperate and share its experiences with Vietnamin building nuclear power plants in the future./.
