Scholarships given to 150 poor university students in southeastern region

Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and HCM Television held a ceremony on October 12 to grant scholarships to 15 new university students with difficult circumstances in seven southeastern provinces and cities.

HCM City (VNA) – Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper, the Ho Chi Minh City YouthUnion and HCM Television held a ceremony on October 12 to grant scholarships to15 new university students with difficult circumstances in seven southeastern provincesand cities.

 The scholarship is only the firstsupport for new university students to pursue their study as well as an acknowledgementof their efforts in learning, said Le The Chu, Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi TreNewspaper.

He wished the new students will try their best to study well to make theirfuture brighter.

In 2019, the newspaper is coordinating with 63 provinces and cities to presentscholarships worth 14 billion VND (603,460 USD) in total to over 1,200 newstudents with difficulties across the nation.

Over the past 17 years, with the goal of not letting any new student give upstudy dream due to difficult circumstances, the programme has granted more than19,300 scholarships to new students, with a total value of 134 billion VND(5.77 million USD)./.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
