Seaport service fees up 10 percent from early 2019

Hanoi (VNA) - Thefees for container loading and unloading services from ships to port yard atVietnamese seaports will be adjusted from January 1, 2019, according to newregulations of the Ministry of Transport.

According to Circular No.54/2018/TT-BGTVT, the fees for container loading and unloading services fromships (barges) to port yard and vice versa in Region I (in Hai Phong city,except for Lach Huyen port) will increase by 10 percent against the currentprice of 30 USD to 33 USD for a 20-foot container and 45 USD to 55 USD for a40-foot container.

As for loading and unloadingservices from ship (barges) to barges, cars and wagons at the wharf, and viceversa, the prices will increase by 50 percent, from 18 USD to 26 USD for a20-foot container and 27 USD to 40 USD for a 40-foot container.

The prices of container loadingand unloading services in Lach Huyen port, Hai Phong city, is adjusted up 10 percentin accordance with the roadmap until 2021 from 46 USD to 52 USD per 20-footcontainer and from 68 USD to 77 USD per 40-foot container.

As for Cai Mep - Thi Vai port,the loading and unloading charge for import, export, and temporary import forre-export also increases by 10 percent against the current level, from 46 USD to52 USD per 20-foot container, and from 68 USD to 77 USD per 40-foot container.However, the container loading and unloading services for transshipment (fromships, barges to port yards and vice versa) drops by 10 percent, from 34 USD to31 USD for a 20-foot container and from 51 USD to 46 USD for a 40-footcontainer.

The price of container loadingand unloading services in the Mekong Delta is reduced 50 percent against theprice in Region III, consisting of HCM City-based ports, while other contentsremain unchanged.

The service charge for berths,wharves and anchorages for tourists will also increase from 0.99 USD - 1.1 USD perperson per trip to 2.5 USD - 3.5 USD per person for one way.

Circular No. 54/2018/TT-BGTVTtakes effect on January 1, 2019, repealing Decision No. 3863/QD-BGTVT andDecision No. 3946/QD-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport.

According to Vietnam MaritimeAdministration, Vietnam is home to 45 seaports with 263 wharves and 18 berths.

Among these seaports, with a combineddesigned capacity of 543.7 million tonnes each year, some major ports, such asCai Mep - Thi Vai, Lach Huyen and Cat Lai, were built with hefty investmentcapital and advanced equipment, while the remainder is small-and medium-scaleseaports.-VNA

According to the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), in the interbank market, the trend of decreasing overnight interest rates has continued, starting at 3.13% in the first session of last week and gradually decreasing over the sessions to 1.67% at the last session of the week.
