Seminar seeks to promote technology transfer

Hanoi (VNA) – Measures to help Vietnamsolve challenges in applying foreign technologies in domestic production andbuild relevant policies were discussed at a workshop in Hanoi on July 6.

Jointly held by the State Agency for Technology Innovation (SATI) under theMinistry of Science and Technology (MoST), and the Office of the National Science and TechnologyPolicy Council, the event also aims to share international experience in technologytransfer.

Ta Viet Dung, Director of the SATI, mentioned the fact that technologytransfer in Vietnam is yet to achieve desired results, reflected by the limitedapplication of study findings in reality and the small number of technologytransfer contracts.

Enterprises have not paid due attention to investing in research and technologytransfer activities, he said, underlining the responsibility of management agenciesfor establishing a legal foundation to support technology transfer, thuspromoting the process in the coming time.

Do Hoai Nam, Director of the MoST’s  Department of Technology Appraisal, Examination andAssessment, briefed participants on Vietnam’s technology transfer policy, andintroduced new contents in the revised Law on Technology Transfer approved onJune 19.

The law and relevant laws and decrees are hoped to contribute to stronglyboosting technology transfer activities in the coming time, he said.

Michael Braun, a German science and technology expert, said Vietnam needs to haveappropriate strategies to catch up with technological trends in the world.

Local experts and those from France and Germany, and representativesfrom enterprises also shared experience in how to make technology transfer moreeffective.-VNA

🌠 Vietnam launches six 4.0 technology training and talent networks

The networks bring together universities, research institutes and domestic and foreign businesses. Members will work closely in training, research, and technology transfer by sharing curricula, improving faculty capacity, providing access to laboratories and research facilities, and jointly implementing science and technology projects.

Vietnam is actively yet cautiously preparing for the construction of its first nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan (now the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa). The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

✤ PM chairs national committee's meeting on semiconductor development

Vietnam has issued many key policies to support semiconductor development, notably the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Other initiatives include the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, and the Human Resources Development Programme for the Semiconductor Industry.
