Sewage treatment plant operational in central coastal city

A drainage and wastewater treatment plant was commissioned in Dong Hoi city of the central coastal province of Quang Binh on July 20, as part of the environment sub-project financed by the World Bank.
A drainage and wastewater treatment plant was commissioned in Dong Hoicity of the central coastal province of Quang Binh on July 20, as partof the environment sub-project financed by the World Bank.

With a designed treatment capacity of 10,000 cubic metres per day usingenvironmentally friendly technology, the plant will benefit 78,000inhabitants.

The sub-project, which forms part of the78.5-million-USD Coastal Cities Environmental Sanitation Project forVietnam, was carried out from March 2007-March 2014.

Itfocused on building and upgrading drainage and sewage treatment systemsand raising public awareness of keeping the environment green.

Following the success of these two phases, leaders of the World BankVietnam have proposed pouring more money into the third phase to improvehealth and environmental sanitation for city dwellers.-VNA

As a key member of the core group of 18 countries, initiated by Vanuatu, Vietnam engaged in advocating for the UN General Assembly’s Resolution N.77/276, requesting for the ICJ’s advisory opinion. Following the resolution's adoption, Vietnam fully participated in all procedural steps for the first time, from submitting written proposals to presenting directly at the court’s hearings.

🦂 Hanoi to roll out policies supporting green transport transition

Under the plan, from 2025 to 2026, the city will complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in switching to green vehicles, expand the electric and green-energy bus network, and build charging stations. The targeted proportion of green buses is set at 10% in 2025 and 20–23% in 2026.
