Singapore introduced commemorative currency notes on August 18, comprising a 50 and five 10 Singaporean Dollar notes (SGD) to honour the 50th anniversary of the country’s Golden Jubilee (August 9).

The design of the commemorative notes drew inspiration from significant milestones and achievements in the country’s history

The 50 SGD note highlights Singapore's history, transformation and future with an image of the country’s founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew shouting "Merdeka"(Independence).

The notes have security features used for the first time in the world on a currency note.

The security stripe in the 50-Singapore-dollar note has a unique see-through feature with image movement effects that give depth to the image of Lee Kuan Yew.

The commemorative notes were designed by four local artists and designers. The public can exchange for the commemorative notes at face value at branches of four major retail🐲 banks in Singapore fr🌠om August 20.-VNA
