The northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang has put into action a project to preserve the relic area where took place the second National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s (CPV).

The secondNational Party Congress, which was held in Tuyen Quang forest fromFebruary 11-19, 1951, was the first Party congress ever held in thecountry. It was a huge move forward as it occurred during the war ofresistance against the French colonialists. The first congress was heldin Macau , China in 1935.

The 14ha project covers aconference hall, houses where late President Ho Chi Minh and otherleaders lived and worked, a memorial house of fallen combatants andhouses for domestic and foreign participants to the meetings.

Accordingto Nguyen Viet Thanh, Director of the province’s Department of Culture,Sports and Tourism, the department will continue to preserve therelics, which are considered as a “red address” for the education of theyounger generation on the country’s revolutionary tradition./.
