Six more solar power projects licensed in Binh Phuoc

The Government has approved an additional six solar power projects with a combined capacity of 850 MWp in Binh Phuoc, raising the total solar energy capacity of the southern province to the highest in the country.

BinhPhuoc (VNA) –
The Government has approved an additional six solarpower projects with a combined capacity of 850 MWp in Binh Phuoc, raising the totalsolar energy capacity of the southern province to the highest in the country.

According to Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tram, the locality has finalised plans for solarenergy development to 2030.

The total area of land used for electricity projects is estimated to be up to5,000-6,000ha, mostly concentrated in Loc Ninh district.

Nguyen Anh Hoang, Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade,said the provincial People’s Committee has accepted the work of two investors inthe field of solar power development.

Itis hoped that the projects will start to generate electricity to the nationalgrid in June next year. However, experts said the cost of solar power projects istoo expensive.

Theyalso said Binh Phuoc holds goodsolar energy potential with an average of 2,400-2,500 hours of the sun peryear. It is one of the top three provinces for high thermal complexity inthe country. –VNA
