Sixth Vietnam Startup Wheel launched for entrepreneurs at all ages

HCM City (VNA) – The sixth Vietnam Startup Wheel in 2018 waslaunched on May 15 nationwide for all individuals, groups and startup businessfounders residing in Vietnam regardless of their age.

According to the organising board, contestants can submit their startupideas, products, services or technologies to the contest from now to the end ofMay. The final and awards ceremony will be held in August this year.

Truong Ly Hoang Phi, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Business StartupSupport Centre said that with the expansion of participants to all ages and allthose residing in Vietnam instead of from 18-35 years old and Vietnamesecitizens as previous, the contest aims to create an international environmentfor studying with the involvement of startups from all countries, thus helpingdomestic startups challenge themselves with competition from domestic andforeign rivals.

Phi said that in the past, the annual contest has been the largestplayground for Vietnam’s startup community, while helping them conquer importanttargets in their development strategy, introduce their products to investorsand commercialise their products.

The contest aims to connect the startup ecosystem in the country, nurturestartups and encourage the support of partners for young enterprises.

Meanwhile, Ngo Minh Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh CommunistYouth Union’s municipal chapter and Vice President of the Vietnam YouthFederation of Ho Chi Minh City said one of the objectives of the contest isspreading the startup movement among youngsters.

Founded by Ho Chi Minh City Business Startup Support Centre and YoungBusinesspeople Association under the Vietnam Youth Federation of Ho Chi MinhCity, Startup Wheel was first launched in 2013 and has become one of the biggestevents for the startup community.

Last year, the contest drew more than 30,000 participants with 767 ideasand projects.-VNA
