SMS Campaign raises fund for pupils in remote areas

A SMS campaign aimed at raising funds to build boarding houses for pupils in remote and border areas across the country was launched in Hanoi on August 20.
A SMS campaign aimed at raising funds to build boarding houses forpupils in remote and border areas across the country was launched inHanoi on August 20.

The launching ceremony was jointly heldby Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF), Thanh Nien Newspaper, the Vietnam RedCross and the National Humanity Portal.

Initiated by HCMCYU and Thanh Nien Newspaper, the programme will be implemented from 2013 to 2017.
Donors can give money by sending messages to the switchboard 1406. Each message will contribute 12,000 VND to the fund.

They can also send money through VTC pay portal at thanhnien.com,thanhgiong.vn and nhabantru.thanhnien.com.vn or directly to the accountnumber 068704070066977 at Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint StockCommercial Bank (HD Bank) and 14010001038211 at the Vietnam Bank forInvestment and Development (BIDV) branch in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Standing Vice Chairman of the VYF Nguyen Phi Long, the SMScampaign, which will run until October 14 is calling on individuals andorganisations to contribute to the fund in order to help improve livingand studying conditions for pupils in disadvantaged areas.

Also at the ceremony, the VYF granted a certificate to actor Xuan Bac asa goodwill ambassador for the “building boarding houses for children”programme, which is co-organised by the VYF and Thanh Nien Newspaperfrom 2013 to 2017.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
