Soc Trang (VNA) – The Soc Trang Power Company has focused on developing an electricity network for Khmer ethnic people in rural disadvantaඣged areas in 2015.

Currently, almost all families in southern Soc Trang province have been connected to the local grid (99.4 percent). Nearly 96.8 percent of Khmer families are enabled to use electricity.
The outcome was attributed to the implementation of major projects to develop the power network with a total investment of 305.4 billion VND (13.4 million USD). The power company also carried out a number of projects to support farmers’ daily activities and production.
The World Bank (WB) offered a loan of 193.5 billion VND (8.5 million USD) to implement the electricity distribution project for shrimp breeding in the province. It provided 75 billion VND (3.3 million USD) in loans to build the 110kV Cu Lao Dung power station and 110kW Tran De – Cu Lao Dung power line, which are due to be completed in 2016. The Soc Trang Power Company strives to provide electricity for additional 5,000 households and improve customer services in 2016.-VNA
