Solid waste treatment plant starts work on Ly Son

A solid waste treatment plant officially went into operation on Ly Son Island in the central province of Quang Ngai on June 4 by the Vietnam Environment Administration (VEA) and the district People’s Committee of Ly Son.
A solid waste treatment plant officially went into operation on LySon Island in the central province of Quang Ngai on June 4 by theVietnam Environment Administration (VEA) and the district People’sCommittee of Ly Son.

The plant was selected as the firstpilot solid waste treatment project in the island district by theMinistry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Spanning two hectares , the plant has a total investment capital of over30 billion VND (1.4 million USD) and an average capacity of 250- 500kilograms of solid waste per hour.

According to the plan, theDepartment of Waste Management and Environmental Improvement willsupport the island district in operating through 2015. The plant will behanded over to local operators.

The factory willcontribute to improving the environmental criteria in the new ruraldevelopment programme in the island district, improving the livingenvironment of people and coral reefs on the island.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
