Another six Mong ethnic villages in Hang Chu commune, Bac Yen district in the northern mountainous ꦦprovince of Son La have just been connected to the national powe♑r grid under a local project, according to the Son La Electricity Company.

The link came just in time for local residents in seven out of 10 villages in the commune to celebrate the 70 th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and Nationa🅺l Day (September 2).

The project funded the♐ construction of two transformers and 54 pillars and the installation of more than seven kilometres of cable and hundreds of power reading🐭 meters.

A similar project has been imple🔥mented to benefit 1🥀50 Thai ethnic minority households in Bom Nam and Giang, the two last villages to access electricity in the remote commune of Chieng Den.

The rate of households currently using electric﷽ity in the province is nearly 86꧂ percent, below the country’s average. About 27,000 households in the province still lack access to electricity.

To ensure all remote villages are connected with the national grid, the province and the Northern Power Corpꦜoration under the Electricity of Vietnam launched a project to supply electricity to the targeted fam💧ilies in September.

The project, worth 135 billion VND (6.25 million USD), aims to connect 5,345 households in 72 remote villages of Mai Son and Song Ma di🦄stricts to the national grid.

Another project worth 557 billion VND (25.8 million USD) that began in May 2012 has so far supplied electricity to 20,836 households in the loca♋lity.-VNA
