Southern airport runway temporarily closed for repair

A runway of the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City will be closed for repairs for four days from July 16, according to a decision by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Repairs on runway 25R/07L will be conducted in two places spanning atotal area of about 10 square metres damaged by lightning.

The temporary shutdown will begin at 0:01 am of July 16 and last until 23:59 pm of July 19.

The CAAV asked the Airports Corporation of Vietnam to enhanceinspections and closely liaise with the Vietnam Air Traffic ManagementCorporation to ensure flight safety and aviation operations during theclosure.

It also requested airlines adjust flighttimetables and prepare adequate reserve fuel for planes required tocircle the airport while waiting for landing space.-VNA
