 Hanoi (VNA) – Storm Vamco, the 13th storm to enter the East Sea this year, caused 18people in tꦡhe central region to suffer from injury as of 5pm on November 15, accordingto the Central Steer🅺ing Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.

Of the injured, eightwere in Quang Binh, seven in Quang Tri province and three in Quang Nam. In addition, fivehouses collapsed and the roofs of more than 1,500 houses were blown away. The storm madelandfall in the central region on November 15 morning, and weakened into atropical depression after hitting Thua Thien-Hue province. Ministries, sectorsand localities were asked to continue keeping a close watch, and stand ready torespond to natural disasters, especially flooding and landslides. Cities and provinceshit by the tropical depression must ensure safety of reservoirs and sea dykes. Recently, floods andlandslides have seriously impacted millions of people, inundated and damagednearly 300,000 houses in the central region./.

PM orders strengthened disaster preparedness ahead o🧸f storm season

Under the directive, the PM instructed relevant agencies to regularly inspect, supervise and proactively implement disaster prevention, response and rescue measures in line with their assigned roles and mandates, ensuring readiness, avoiding passivity or delays, and maintaining operational continuity amid ongoing political and administrative restructuring at levels.

Vietnam pioneers use of AI and remote sensing to monitor seawater 🌟quality

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.

Vietnam r♐amps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public.
