The Central Highlands province of Dak Nong held a forum on July 14 to discuss measures to prevent violence and abuses against children.

Hanoi (VNA) –The Central Highlands province of Dak Nong held a forum on July 14 to discussmeasures to prevent violence and abuses against children.

The forum drew nearly100 students from high and secondary schools representing over 160,000 localchildren in eight districts and towns in the province.

At the forum,participants raised questions for provincial leaders on urgent issues such asalarming violence at schools, sexual abuse against children, cheat in exams andchild marriage.

The children also expressedtheir wish to live in a safe, healthy and friendly environment, thus helpingthem develop comprehensively.

Local leaders pledged toincrease communications campaigns and tighten management over information,especially through the Internet.

They also stressed theneed to increase physical activities for school students, thereby minimizing theiruse of technological devices.

Provincial leadersalso asked local departments, sectors and schools as well as families ofchildren to pay more attention to issues related to children, thus effectively dealingwith problems facing children and building a more healthy environment for them.

On the occasion, thePeople’s Committee of Dak Nong presented 71 gifts to poor students with outstandingacademic performances.-VNA
