Tay Ninh: 691 prisoners have terms reduced on Tet occasion

The people’s court of southern Tay Ninh province decided to reduce the prison terms of 691 prisoners on the occasion of the upcoming lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Tay Ninh (VNA) – The people’s court of southern Tay Ninh provincedecided to reduce the prison terms of 691 prisoners on the occasion of theupcoming lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Specifically, at the Cay Cay prison run by the Ministry ofPublic Security, 111 prisoners are freed ahead of their release dates and 553 othershave their jail terms cut by 1-22 months.

Nine inmates at prisons and detention centres run by the provincialand district police are released before the end of their terms, and 18 othersreceive reduction of their time from 2-7 months.

The prisoners benefiting from the amnesty are those who haveshown good conduct while in prison.

The amnesty policy of the Vietnamese Party and Statereflects the humanitarian tradition of the Vietnamese nation, which encouragesoffenders to rehabilitate and become useful members of society.-VNA
