Vinh Long (VNA) – The Mekong ♛Delta province of Vinh Long has opened free swimming skills training for teachers and children in the locality from June 13-25.

The programme is an effort to reduce drowning accidents.

They are 30 teachers and 80 students from primary and secondary schools in the province taking part.

The 13-day course will equip the teachers and children with skills to save themselves and others from drowning, while helping to increase children’s health and physical condition by providing a useful playground for kids during summer.

According to the provincial Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Department, 87 children was killed in drowning accidents between 2011 and 2015 in the locality.

The progꦆramme is a joint effort of the provincial union and the Australian ch🌟arity group Water Safety Vietnam.-VNA
