At a recent conference onthe digitalisation of radio and television broadcasting in Ho Chi MinhCity, the ARFM said in 2015 five big cities in Vietnam will complete thedigitalisation of television according to standards of the radio singlefrequency technology DVB-T2/MPEG-4.

In 2016,the number will rise to 26 provinces and cities towards the goal ofending the broadcast of analogue television in 2020.

The Ministry of Information and Communication has allocated 1.71trillion VND (79.5 million USD) to assist poor families in theconversion process.

InternationalTelecommunication Union representative Francoirs Rancy told theconference that despite numerous difficulties, the change to digital TVhas been carried out successfully in Da Nang City. He said the ITU willassist Vietnam in carrying out the switchover.-VNA

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
