Thai firms see potential in Vietnam’s market

Addressing a workshop on trade and investment in Vietnam inBangkok on November 27, BOI Vice Secretary General Chokedee Kaewsangcalled on Thai businesses to seize opportunities to do business withVietnam as the country is adjusting its trade and investment policies.

Vietnamis one of three top countries in foreign investment attraction in theAssociation of the Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN) and the BOI hasprovided information on the market for all Thai businesses that are keenon investing in the country.

Le Thanh Hai, Vietnamese traderepresentative in Thailand, said many Thai firms have operatedsuccessfully in Vietnam, hoping that Thai small- and medium-sizedenterprises will pour investment in the country in the coming time.
The event, held by the Commercial Affairs Office at theVietnamese Embassy in Thailand in collaboration with the BOI, saw theparticipation of nearly 200 Thai companies.

Two-way trade hit 7.6 billion USD in January-September, a year-on-yearincrease of 11 percent. As of October, Thailand ran 365 investmentprojects in Vietnam with the total registered capital of 6.63 billionUSD. Meanwhile, Vietnam invested around 9 million USD in eight projectsin Thailand.-VNA
