Addressing a ceremony to mark his 86th birthday, the King saidThailand has become normal thanks to the people’s solidarity, urgingevery Thai to perform their duties to promote benefits, stability andsecurity of the nation.

The live broadcast birthdayceremony held at the Rajapracha Samakhom Pavillion of Klai Kanwon Palacein Hua Hin, about 190 km south of Bangkok, saw the presence ofPrime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, army commanders and opponentpoliticians.

The same day, Thai Navy CommanderNarong Pipatanasai reaffirmed that there will be no a coup d'étatstaged by the army if political instabilities continue after the King’sbirthday celebration.

He reiterated that the army will not have any intervention in this issue.

Anti-government demonstrations in Bangkok have temporarily easedafter police allowed the protesters to enter Government House and policeheadquarters.-VNA
