Thai authorities have detained five Vietnamese fishing boats with 28 fishermen aboard for violating their territorial sea and illegal fishing.

Bangkok (VNA) – Thai authorities have detained five Vietnamese fishing boats with 28 fishermen aboard for 🔯violating their territorial sea and illeg▨al fishing.

The boats included three from southernmost Ca Mau province and two from Mekong delta Kien Giang province.
Vietnam’s Embassy in Thailand is working with Thai authorities to clarify information and carry out citizen protection procedures. Commander of Naval Region 2 of the Thai Royal Navy and Rear Admiral Pornchai Pinthong said three Ca Mau’s fishing boats with 15 fishermen were stopped in the sea area around 20 kilometres off Pattani province’s coast while harvesting holothurian.
Kien Giang’s fishing boats with 13 fishermen were arrested on October 24 while illegally fishing off the coast of Nakhon Si Thamarat province. All fishermen have been brought to the navy base in Songkhla province and they will be put on trial for encroaching territorial sea and fishing illegally.-VNA
