Thanh Hoa (VNA) – Police in the northcentral province of Thanh Hoa has arrested three people for smuggling heroinfrom Laos to Vietnam.
The three residents of Muong Ly commune, MuongLat district, were caught red-handed transporting three bricks of heroin wasarrested on June 26 in Trung Son commune, Quan Hoa mountainous district.
The police seized three bricks of heroin andother objects relating to drug trafficking.
The men confessed that they purchased the drugin Laos and brought it to Thanh Hoa to sell.
The People’s Court of northern Phu Tho province on June 15 sentenced three men to death and another to life in jail for trafficking 300 heroin bricks in the province’s largest-ever narcotics case in terms of drug quantity.
Customs officials at Tan Son Nhat international airport in Ho Chi Minh City seized nearly 12kg of marijuana smuggled from the US to Vietnam in May and June.
