Hanoi (VNA) –
The Hanoi Transportation Corporation (Transerco) hasrecently submitted to the municipal Department of Transport a proposal to open14 new bus routes, including the pilot of three minibus lines in the city.

The 20-24 seat minibuses can pick up passengers in narrow streets so that theycan easily access the public transportation system.

After receiving approval from the department, Transerco will start investment inthe vehicles.

As part of efforts to meet 20-25 percent of the locals’ travel demands, thecompany has built a roadmap to enhance connectivity within public transportsystem, and expanding its presence in the city’s outskirts.

Also, it has carried out numerous measures to improve service quality.

Long distance to bus stations is the main barrier for this means of transportto be favoured by local residents. Once the issue is solved, the number ofpeople using public transport will increase, helping ease traffic congestion.-VNA
