Thua Thien –Hue (VNA) - The central province of Thua Thien- Hue will spend 2 billion VND (91,000 USD) planting 4.6 hectares of mangrove forest with 10,000 varieties in Ru Xa forest in Hong Phong commune, Huong Tra town in response to climate chang🌼e.

The province has built sea-dykes and drainage systems to enhance the effectiveness of the afforestation.
Aside from expanding protective forests and protecting the environment in the Ru Cha area, the plan will also foster ecological tourism in the locality. Ru Cha is the largest primeval forest in the province. It has a diverse, abundant ecosystem with plentiful shrimp, fish and bird varieties, creating major income for local residents.
Huong Tra town plans to increase the area of mangrove forests to 30 ha. Huong Phong commune will plant 70 ha. Thua Thien Hue has over 128 kilometres of coastline with 22,600 hectares of lagoon. Salt intrusion during flood season causes erosion, which causes drastic losses for local people. Thus, mangrove forest enlargement and restoration is crucial to develop the province’s socio-economic development and preserve the environment.-VNA
