Thua Thien – Hue to run 2.3 million EUR climate project

Authorities of the central province of Thua Thien – Hue on March 26 approved a Luxembourg-funded climate change adaptation project in the locality.

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – Authorities of thecentral province of Thua Thien – Hue on March 26 approved a Luxembourg-fundedclimate change adaptation project in the locality.

The project costs about 2.3 million EUR. Ofthe sum, 2 million EUR is sourced from the Luxembourg government’s non-refundableaid via the Global Climate Partnership Fund, while the remaining comes from thelocal budget.

The project will be carried out in 30 monthsin 29 communes in Quang Dien, Phu Vang, and Phu Loc districts, aiming to enhancelocal capacity to respond to climate change.

Its first component, “capacity”, focuses onraising public awareness of climate change response.

Infrastructure facilities to cope withclimate change in targeted areas will be set up in the second component, whilemanagement measures will be promoted in the third one to preserve naturalresources and develop markets for organically-cultivated products.-VNA

Vietnam ramps🅺 up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
