Bangkok (VNA/NNT) – Thailand’s tourism continued to expand in the first quarter of 2016, with a revenꦡue of 660 billion THB, a 14.4 percent increase from the same period last year, said Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrang꧟kul.

The minister said that foreign and local tourists generated 450 billion THB and 210 billion THB, a year-on-year increases of 18.2 percent and 6.9 percent, respectively.
Kobkarn said the number of foreigners visiting the country is rising steadily, indicating that Thailand attracted a large number of Chinese tourists during Chinese New Year in February and the number of visitors from Europe has started to rebound after falling sharply the year before.
She said her agency is preparing to expand last year's "12 Can't Miss Cities" campaign to nearby provinces with the "12 Can't Miss Cities Plus”. It will also push the Cabinet to approve additional long holidays for the public, while establishing Thailand as an ASEAN hub for tourism. Thailand expects to attract more than 32 million travellers this year.-VNA
