Tra Vinh sets to send 200 guest workers abroad per year

Tra Vinh(VNA) – The Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh aims to send at least 200 workersabroad per year between 2017 and 2020.

The goal wasoutlined during a meeting on May 16 to review labour export over the past threeyears in the province.

According to DeputyDirector of the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social AffairsDuong Quang Ngoc, to achieve the target, the province’s People’s Committee hasoffered loans to local labourers from difficult backgrounds so they can afford toreceive training to work abroad.

The Department ofLabour, Invalids and Social Affairs plans to work with local authorities andagencies to provide local residents more information on working abroad, whichmay lift them out of poverty, Ngoc said.

The efforts areexpected to help the province develop more disciplined and skilled humanresources, he added.

The department willcontinue to invite guest worker service providers to its career fairs andprovide visitors with information on foreign labour markets. It will also opentraining courses for local workers.

The departmentestimated that the province sent 647 guest workers abroad, mostly to Japan,from 2014-2016, including 304 female workers and 128 people from ethnicminorities.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
