Hanoi (VNA) - The InvestigationPolice Agency of Hai Duong province has decided to prosecute a truck driverfollowing a deadly crash on January 21 that killed eight people and injuredseven others.
The accident occurred when the truck slammedinto pedestrians walking on the side of National Highway 5A in Kim Luong commune,Kim Thanh district.
The eight victims were state employees, veteransand other elderly officials of Kim Luong commune, who were returning home aftervisiting the local martyrs’ cemetery.
The driver, who was identified as Luong Van Tam,28, temporarily residing in Hanoi, fled the scene after the accident. He turnedhimself in to police yesterday evening.
Tam tested positive for meth. He admitted thathe was drowsy at the time of the accident. He also admitted to usingmethamphetamine before.-VNA
