Hanoi (VNA) – New national recordswere set during the ongoing 2019 national shooting competition which officiallykicked off in Hanoi on May 6.
The event draws the participation of 157athletes of 12 localities and units nationwide.
Bui Thuy Thu Thuy of Hanoi set a new recordin women’s 10 m air pistol with 237.8 points, breaking the previous one of236.7 points.
The other record was established in the 10m air rifle of women’s team by Nguyen Huyen Trang, Nguyen Phuong Thao and DoThi Toan of the Army, with 1,845.3 points.
The Army team has currently topped therankings of the tournament with 11 gold medals, followed by Hai Duong and Hanoiwith four and three, respectively, said General Secretary of the VietnamShooting Federation Nguyen Thi Nhung.
The shooting event is designed to assessquality of the trainers as well as athletes.
Outstanding athletes of the tournament willbe chosen for the national shooting team to participate in the 2019 SoutheastAsian Games (SEA Games) in the Philippines, and book spots in the 2020 TokyoOlympics in Japan.
