Earlier, the centre forecast nine or ten storms and tropicaldepressions will occur in the waters this year, four or five of thesewill directly hit the Vietnamese mainland.

The rainyseason in the Central Highlands and southern regions will start in lateMay or early June, later than the previous years, it said.

The service also warned localities nationwide of dangerous weatherphenomena in May – a transitional period – such as rainstorms,whirlwinds and hailstorms.

Meanwhile, the Mayaverage temperature across Vietnam is projected to be 0.5-1 degreeCelsius higher than the traditional average.

Averagerainfall this month in the north will be 15-30 percent lower than thetraditional average, while in the central, Central Highlands andsouthern regions it will be 20-50 percent lower, the centre said.-VNA

 Vietnam pioneers use of AI and remote sensing to monitor seawater 🌌quality

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.
