The incident occurred around 4:05 PM on December 28. The blast also destroyed a two-storey steel frame building that spans around 300 square metres. According to authorities, the Vietnamese victims, identified as N.C.A. (born 2001) and D.V.V. (born 2004), are still in a coma, with one suffering from third-degree burns.
Phan Tien Hoang, First Secretary and Head of the Labour Management Board at the Vietnamese Embassy, said the board has worked with the Japanese management unions and Vietnamese firms to ensure that the victims receive sound medical care. Doctors said they need to undergo multiple surgical procedures due to the extent of full-body burns.
The board has contacted the victims' families to provide support and address concerns regarding medical treatment and insurance coverage. Meanwhile, the Japanese management unions dispatched interpreters to facilitate communications between the victims' families, hospital staff, and Maruyama representatives, and are working on the injured workers’ insurance issues. The explosion site is around one kilometer to the south of Keihan Kadoma-shi station, near the LaLaport Kadoma shopping center and the Kadoma junction of the Kinki Expressway. Maruyama Paint Industry, operating four factories in the area, specialises in paint processing for electrical equipment and machinery./.
