Underwater stone arch draws visitors to island district

Archaeologists and divers have recently discovered an underwater stone arch in Ly Son district in the central province of Quang Ngai, adding it to the list of must-visit places in the island district.

Quang Ngai (VNA) - Archaeologists and divers have recentlydiscovered an underwater stone arch in Ly Son district in the centralprovince of Quang Ngai, adding it to the list ofmust-visit places in the island district. 
 
The arch isbelieved to have been formed by four volcanoes 250 million years ago. Itbelongs to An Vinh islet and is approximately 1.5km from the shore.

Travelagencies have begun deploying scuba diving tours to the stone arch, offeringvisitors a chance to enjoy the stunning underwater beauty.

According toPhan Tran Tan Tai, tour guide of the Volcano Ly Son Dive Centre, visitors willbe equipped with with the necessary scuba gear, as well as a wetsuit and divingmask. He also said those who are pregnant or have hypertension or diabetesshould not join the tour.

According todivers, the 100m underwater arch is about eight times longer than the onshoreone, which is also located on Ly Son island.

The archsurface is covered with abundant colourful marine creatures, enchantingvisitors to the scene.

It is thefirst time Le Tan, a visitor from Quang Ngai city, visited the underwater stonearch.

“It wasamazing to see all the sea creatures,” Tan exclaimed, adding that he was carefullyguided by the professional divers.

“It is notdifficult at all, even for those who are not experienced divers,” Tan said.

The arch’shighest point is 5m from the water surface, and 13m at the lowest point. Thedeeper visitors dive, the clearer they can see the marine creatures.
It isestimated that hundreds of tourists have already had the pleasure of discoveringthe arch through the diving tour, launched two months ago.

“Thecolourful coral reefs and lively fish make me to want to stay there forever.The underwater world is even more beautiful than I had seen on films,” Trang toldVietnam News Agency reporter.
