Universities talk technology, expertise transfer

Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi University of Science andTechnology (HUST) held a networking meeting entitled "knowledge and technology transferecosystem: opportunities and challenges” on April 8.

The activity was within the framework of the Vietnamese –European Knowledge and Technology Transfer Education Consortium (VETEC) projectunder the Eramus Key Action 2 programme costing over 17.5 billion VND fundedby the European Union.

The project aimed to create a network of technological –knowledge transfer development between Europe and Vietnam, involving HUST, HueUniversity, Can Tho University, Belgium’s Vrije Universiteit Brussel,Germany’s Dresden University of Technology, Portugal’s University of Aveiro andother seven supportive members, including the Belgian embassy in Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, HUST Rector Hoang Minh Son said transferof technology and expertise is an inevitable trend, adding that suggestions atthe event will help Vietnamese universities update helpful insight in the currentcontext.

The HUST speaks highly of the efficiency of the project withpartners, especially efforts by the Free University of Brussels, Europeanschools in general and the support of the European Union as part of the EramusKey Action 2 programme, said Son.

Based on the survey result of technology – knowledgetransfer for nearly 30 officers from the HUST, Hue University and Can ThoUniversity, several effective models were introduced at the event after overtwo years of implementation with the assistance of European experts.

Representatives from European universities and businessesshared their real-life experience in the field, countries’ policies, and mentionedchallenges in technology transfer model.

The VETEC project is underway from September 2016 – 2019.  Its results will be widely spread to developtraining courses in the field in Vietnamese universities.-VNA

🐲 Vietnam launches six 4.0 technology training and talent networks

The networks bring together universities, research institutes and domestic and foreign businesses. Members will work closely in training, research, and technology transfer by sharing curricula, improving faculty capacity, providing access to laboratories and research facilities, and jointly implementing science and technology projects.

Vietnam is actively yet cautiously preparing for the construction of its first nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan (now the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa). The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

Vietnam has issued many key policies to support semiconductor development, notably the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Other initiatives include the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, and the Human Resources Development Programme for the Semiconductor Industry.
