The event, hosted by the Uruguayan Embassy in Hanoi, drew theparticipation of representatives from the embassies of the LatinAmerican and European countries such as Mexico, Cuba, Brazil and Spain.

In his opening remark, Uruguayan Ambassador toVietnam Carlos Irigaray introduced Vietnamese guests to the land, peopleand diverse culture and art of his country.

Hepraised the Umbral band, which consists of Ignacio Correa and SebatianSegarra, for its impressive performances at the freshly-ended HueFestival 2014.

The duo enthralled Vietnameseaudiences with famous works such as Mansito, De costa a costa, Papascalientes and Caraguata.

“This is the first time wehave visited Vietnam and the people here are very hospitable,” SebatianSegarra told a Vietnam News Agency reporter.

“Surprisingly, we performed at a special stage, watched by wonderful audiences,” he said.

During the Hue Festival, the Uruguayan guitarists devoted special andimpressive performances to local audiences at the Duyet Thi DuongTheatre and the Hue Royal Palace on April 16 and 17.

The biennial festival was a big feast of art and music, with 2,600artists and performers, including 595 foreign ones.

During the April 12-20 event, 66 art troupes from 37 countries staged170 performances at 15 venues in Hue city and 10 other sites in theprovince.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
