US, German-funded projects assist locals in Thua-Thien Hue
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue has received social welfare projects funded by the US and Germany, with combined investment of nearly 87,000 USD.
Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The central province of Thua Thien-Huehas received social welfare projects funded by the US and Germany, withcombined investment of nearly 87,000 USD.
A 1.125 billion VND (49,500 USD) project was funded by the US’s TheCompassion Flower organization which aims to support poor locals and students inthe province to improve their living conditions and access to health care.
Along with caring for poor elderly people and providing scholarships tolocal students, the province will also improve the environment and developeducation and health care.
The project’s activities include organising health check-ups andpresenting gifts to the needy in Huong Thuy commune, Nam Dong and Phuc Locdistricts, holding a writing and reading class for about 80 adults in Phu Vangdistrict, and offering about 500 scholarships to poor students across theprovince.
The project will also give presents to local households hit by therecent flood, along with 400 poor families in remote areas, while helping somelocalities access clean water and organise tailoring training courses for poorwomen.
Meanwhile, the Courage e. V association of Germany has provided 851million VND (37,444 USD) to support about 60 poor and single women in Huong Tratown through providing husbandry training courses, building about 30 pig farmsfor them and providing pigs and pig feed.-VNA
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue shipped 474.7 million USD worth of products to foreign countries in the first seven months of the year, a year-on-year surge of 24.88 percent.
The Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee and national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines signed on August 11 a cooperation agreement on promoting tourism development in the Hue ancient imperial city.

The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
