US peace activists visit Da Nang city

Sixteen peace activists from the US met with representatives of authorities, organisations, and Agent Orange/Dioxin victims in central Da Nang city on April 27.

The activity was part oftheir visit to Vietnam from April 19 to May 1 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Vietnam-US relations.

Thedelegation, led by John McAuliff, Executive Director of the US Fund forReconciliation and Development, includes those who used to engage inanti-war movements.

At the meeting, they wereinformed about local socio-economic development and the cooperation ineconomics, culture, education and humanitarian aid between Da Nang andthe US.

They also discussed issues regardingregional peace, assistance to Agent Orange/Dioxin victims, and ways tofoster people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

During their stay in Vietnam, the US activists have also joinedmeetings with local scholars and agencies and will attend activitiesmarking the 40 th anniversary of Vietnam’s southern liberation andnational reunification in Ho Chi Minh City this week.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
