Hanoi (VNA) – The final round of the 2020 water ambassador contestwas held at Nguyen Du Secondary School in Hanoi on December 7, during whichfour water ambassadors were named.

The contest, jointly held by the US Agency for InternationalDevelopment (USAID) in Vietnam, the Management and Sustainable DevelopmentInstitute and the Centre For Sustainable Community Development (SCODE),attracted the participation of secondary school students in the capital city.

It aimed at improving students’ knowledge on clean wateruse, personal hygiene and water sources protection, and mobilising resources to increaseaccess to clean water for students in mountainous schools in Tam Duong districtof the northern province of Lao Cai.

Launched in September, the organising board selected 40outstanding students to the final round.

They then chose three style ambassadors and four waterambassadors of 2020./.

🌱 Vietnam contributes to international court's advisory opinion on climate change

As a key member of the core group of 18 countries, initiated by Vanuatu, Vietnam engaged in advocating for the UN General Assembly’s Resolution N.77/276, requesting for the ICJ’s advisory opinion. Following the resolution's adoption, Vietnam fully participated in all procedural steps for the first time, from submitting written proposals to presenting directly at the court’s hearings.

💙 Hanoi to roll out policies supporting green transport transition

Under the plan, from 2025 to 2026, the city will complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in switching to green vehicles, expand the electric and green-energy bus network, and build charging stations. The targeted proportion of green buses is set at 10% in 2025 and 20–23% in 2026.
