Venezuela extends condolences to Vietnam following Ha Long Bay boat tragedy

Hanoi (VNA)🦩 – The Government of Venezuela has extended its deepest condolences to Vietnam following the tragic sinking of a tourist boat in Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh, which left 35 people dead and four missing.
In a message shared on social media, Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Yván Gil expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims and reaffirmed Venezuela’s solidarity with the Vietnamese people. He also praised the Vietnamese rescue teams for their bravery, acknowledging their efforts to save lives despite severe weather conditions.
Venezuelan media outlets, including major broadcasters teleSUR and Globalvisión, widely reported the foreign minister’s statement, while also covering the latest updates on Vietnam’s ongoing rescue operations. Authorities continue to work around the clock in difficult conditions, battling high waves and heavy rainfall brought by the approaching storm No 3, internationally known as Wipha.
The tourist boat Vinh Xanh 58 (Wonder Sea), carrying 46 tourists and three crew members, was struck by an unexpected thunderstorm while on a sightseeing tour to Sung Sot Cave and Titop Island in the Ha Long Bay World Heritage Site.
As of the latest reports, by July 20 afternoon a total of 45 people have been recovered, with ten survivors and 35 confirmed dead. The search continues for the four still missing amid challenging conditions./.
The boat, carrying 46 tourists and three crew members, was struck by an unexpected thunderstorm while on a sightseeing tour to Sung Sot Cave and Titop Island.
As of 6:00 pm, rescue teams had saved two more individuals from a tourist boat that sank in Ha Long Bay, bringing the total number of people rescued - both passengers and crew member - to 12. By 7:40 pm, the bodies of nine victims had been found. However, the exact number of people aboard at the time of sinking has yet to be confirmed.
