Taking place at theMalaysia Embassy in Pretoria, the ASEAN 2012 charity fair aimed toraise funds for charitable activities in South Africa.

Addressingthe opening ceremony, Malaysian Ambassador Kennedy Jawan stressed thatapart from its charity goals, the biennial event makes a significantcontribution to building a peaceful, united and strong ASEAN community.

VietnameseAmbassador Nguyen Manh Hung said it is an opportunity to promote theimages of ASEAN and each member nation. All money raised from the eventwill be spent on humanitarian activities, he added.-VNA
