A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Public Security, Sen. Lieut. GenLe Quy Vuong attended the We Protect Children Online Summit in London onDecember 10-11, an event that rallied a global move in the war againstonline child sex abuse.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron, inhis keynote speech, said a range of countries have committed to lawenforcement response to tackle child abuse images, adding that a newglobal child protection fund would be set up, with the UK the first andmost major donors paying 50 million GBP over the next five years.
Addressing the summit, Secretary of State for the UK Home DepartmentTheresa May mentioned millions of images telling children abuseavailable on the web and appealed for a crackdown on onlinepaedophiles.
The UK is currently pioneering in the fightagainst the dark net of child sex abusers with the GovernmentCommunications Headquarters (GCHQ) – a British intelligence and securityorganisation and the National Crime Agency at the forefront.
The GCHQ technological expertise and NCA investigative ability will helpanalyse and filter huge volumes of child porn images hidden on darksites, Cameron said.
Participants called for clearing out pornimages from the web and intensifying global coordination among lawenforcement agencies.
At a working session with NCA GeneralDirector Keith Bristow and Executive Director David Almond earlier,Vuong said both sides have worked effectively on combating transnationalcrime, especially illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and child sexabuse.
He proposed sharing more information about criminals viathe launch of a hotline while stepping up personnel training andnegotiations towards the signing of an extradition agreement and amemorandum of understanding on financial and money laundering data assoon as possible.
He expressed wish for more UK support to theVietnamese Ministry of Public Security in equipment and technologiesfor the fight against cyber crime, crime statistics and immigrationmanagement.-VNA
