Vietnam attends third ASOSAI – EUROSAI joint conference

A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Auditor General Doan Xuan Tien attended the third joint conference between the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) and the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) held in Jerusalem, Israel on March 11.

Tel Aviv (VNA) – AVietnamese delegation led by Deputy Auditor General Doan Xuan Tien attended thethird joint conference between the Asian Organisationof Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) and the European Organisation of SupremeAudit Institutions (EUROSAI) held in Jerusalem, Israel on March 11.

Thedelegation attended the event in its capacity as ASOSAI Chair for the 2018-2021tenure.

Speaking atthe event themed “Emerging Issues and Emergency Situations”, Tien said theconference shows the two organisations’ determination in affirming the role ofsupreme audit institutions (SAIs) in good governance at the country and worldlevels.

Amidchallenges in migration, natural disasters, cyber security risks, andfulfillment of the United Nations sustainable development goals, he asked SAIsto build strategies and approaches to dealing with them.

ASOSAI willgive focus on environmental audit and SDG fulfillment in the near future, whichwas clearly set in the Hanoi Declaration adopted at the 14th ASOSAI Assemblyheld in the capital city in September 2018, he said.

Participantsdiscussed population aging, cyber security, environment pollution and use ofwastes, challenges faced by technologically-reliant economies.

In December2018, Vietnam’s State Audit Office together with other SAIs built an actionplan to carry out the Hanoi Declaration. It also signed agreements with 46 SAIsas ASOSAI members on environmental audit for sustainable development.

Theconference afforded auditors from Asia and Europe a chance to share experienceand learn about challenges that need to be dealt with in the two continents,thus gaining the best audit practices.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
