Vietnam, Australia boost links in combating crime

Minister of Public Security To Lam and Troy Grant, Minister of Police and Justice of Australia’s New South Wales state agreed to expand cooperation between the two agencies in fighting crimes at their meeting in Sydney on December 13.

Sydney (VNA) – Minister of Public Security To Lamand Troy Grant, Minister of Police and Justice of Australia’s New South Walesstate agreed to expand cooperation between the two agencies in fighting crimesat their meeting in Sydney on December 13. 

The cooperation will focus on the sharing and verification of criminal information,the extradition of wanted persons, and investigation of transnational organisedcrimes, particularly those in drug and human trafficking, and cyber security.
  
The ministries will also work together on professional and foreign language trainingfor law enforcement officers, and in fire-fighting, search and rescue, andprison management. 

Minister To Lam said Vietnam appreciates the support provided byAustralia in general and the New South Wales state in particular forVietnam’s national defence and development. 

On the occasion, he congratulated the state on the occasion of the 100-yearanniversary of the local women police force.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
