Vietnam, China reinforce security cooperation

Vietnam and China have agreed to continue intensifying their security cooperation in a result-oriented manner, turning relations in this field into one of pillars of their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

The consensus was reached duringseparate meetings between Politburo member and Minister of PublicSecurity Tran Dai Quang—who is escorting Party General Secretary NguyenPhu Trong in his official China visit—and Politburo member and Secretaryof the Communist Party of China Central Committee’s Commission forPolitical and Legal Affairs Meng Jianzhu, Minister of Public SecurityGuo Shengkun, and Minister of State Security Geng Huichang.

The Chinese officials hailed the Vietnamese delegation’s visit as amilestone in the countries’ comprehensive strategic cooperativepartnership, which also covers affiliation between their law enforcementbodies.

Both sides applauded substantivedevelopments in their relations across sectors and added outcomes oftalks between the nations’ Party leaders and officials provideorientations for the Vietnamese and Chinese ministries to implementtheir missions towards each country’s security and order as well asregional and international peace, stability, and development.

At the meetings, officials highlighted the encouraging outcomes fromthe implementation of agreements reached at the fourth conference oncooperation in crime prevention and control held in Beijing in October2014.

They noted that the two sides have maintainedboth regular and unscheduled meetings and effectively coordinated incrime prevention and combat, helping ensure their respective securityand order along with peace, friendship and sustainable development inborder communities.

The Vietnamese ministry andChinese law enforcement bodies consented to further cooperate incriminal hunting and conducting crackdowns on transnational organisedcrime, hi-tech crime, drug crime, and human trafficking.

They will also work closely to ensure security for activities markingthe 65 th anniversary of the countries’ diplomatic ties whileincreasing exchanges between law enforcement forces and the youngergeneration to fuel the traditional friendship and cooperation betweenthe two peoples.

For his part, Minister Quangstressed the Vietnamese ministry attaches special importance to itssecurity cooperation with Chinese law enforcement agencies.

He also congratulated the Chinese Party, Government and people ontheir significant comprehensive achievements and the contributions fromthe nation’s law enforcement bodies to that end.-VNA
